What do you think of print on demand services, such as those offered by Lulu.com?
It's just a new version of vanity presses -- something for people who can't get their books published.
I'm not sure -- on the one hand I'm skeptical, but on the other I don't think something self-published is necessarily bad.
Print on demand gives writers a way to get their work out there. It's hard to find a publisher.
Print on demand is the future. Publishers shouldn't count on being powerhouses in the future.
If you are a writer, would you consider using a print on demand service?
No. I'd find it embarrassing.
No. I'd have to do too much work myself as far as marketing and distribution go.
Maybe. I don't know. These questions make me worry. I'm a sensitive writer.
Yes, but only after I've tried to find a publisher.
Yes. It is the future.
I'm not a writer.
Would you buy a book that was self-published?
No. I'd worry that it would suck.
No. They tend to be too expensive.
Maybe, if I knew the writer or knew the work was good.
I would and I have.
Please feel free to comment! Also, I forgot to include something in the poll, and I can't edit it. If you wouldn't use a print-on-demand service to have your book printed because of the cost, please say so in the comments.
