Last week's SLG podcast call-in show went a little choppily because of some technical problems, but those have been worked out and this week, SLG Prez Dan Vado is talking to Evan Dorkin, creator of Milk and Cheese and Dork, and who is most recently writing Beasts of Burden with Jill Thompson providing the lovely art (it's published by Dark Horse). Tune in tomorrow, October 15 at 2 p.m. Pacific Time here. The call-in number is (646) 378-0737.

This weekend is APE in San Francisco! The Alternative Press Expo is host to small publishers and self-publishers, as well as crafters and other artists. Here's who is going to be at the SLG tables:

Jamaica Dyer (Weird Fishes) - Special guest of the convention! Be sure to check out her spotlight panel on Sunday at noon!
Jon "Bean" Hastings (Haunted Mansion)
Karl Christian Krumpholz (Byron)
Ethan Nicolle (Chumble Spuzz) - 2009 Eisner Award Nominee!
Serena Valentino (Nightmares and Fairy Tales) - We'll be selling her new novel, Fairer Than!

Hope to see you there! I'm really excited that Kate Beaton will be there, personally.

The Alternative Press Expo takes place this weekend in San Francisco! APE is a small press, self-publishing and art convention, and it's tons of fun. We'll have several artists at our tables, and Ethan Nicolle, creator of Chumble Spuzz, is a special guest of the convention. He'll be doing a panel on Saturday at 1:15 p.m.  We'll have copies of the new graphic novel Lulu and Mitzy and creator S. Eddy Bell on hand to sign. Here's the signing schedule:

11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 3 - 5 p.m.
Ethan Nicolle
S. Eddy Bell
Kenny Keil
Jon "Bean" Hastings
Gene Yang

1 - 3 p.m. and 5 - 6/7 p.m.
Serena Valentino
Camilla d'Errico
Jen Feinberg
Todd Meister
Karl Christian Krumpholz

Andy Ristaino, creator of The Babysitter, will also be there at his own table, as will Lesley Reppeteaux (a.k.a. Black Olive, creator of Outlook: Grim).

I am going to be roaming the floor and buying mini-comics that catch my eye. If you have one you think I and others should see, leave a comment here with your table number, and I will do my very best to stop by.
