Check out the preview of the one-shot A Bag of Anteaters by Ian Carney and Jonathan Edwards, coming from Slave Labor Graphics in February 2005. Ian was the writer on the bizarre and hilarious comic Sugar Buzz! and Jonathan has drawn comics like Tank Girl and Deadline.

Described as funny, touching and rather nasty, A Bag of Anteaters is a sortabiographical tale. It details the fragile relationship between teen friends Dave and David as they struggle through a day filled with drunkenness, dating, inflatable paddling pools and plastic anteaters.

Love Fights creator Andi Watson described the one-shot as "capturing the everyday look and feel of suburban England in the details of clothing and backgrounds. On top of that Ian's story has the absolute ring of truth to it, precisely capturing the characters and dialogue of the time and place. It's a book I want to see printed, it's a book I want to read, it's a book I'll buy, and, more importantly, I want to see more comics from these two."

You can order A Bag of Anteaters from your comic book retailer now.

A few years ago I picked up a Jonathan Edwards, French language comic at Million Year Picnic called 'Tante Connie et les Hommes a Barbe.'
The artwork was unbelievable! It was fresh and stylish and evoked a sense of the setting (sometime in the thirties and forties) perfectly. His character designs were new and cool but old fashioned at the same time. It all had a very cosmopolitan feel.

Seeing him use that same style to describe ghetto blasters, track suits, and hot townie girls totally made me freak out with joy and jealousy. In fact, the radio on page one of the preview is so perfect I couldn't continue reading the story. The whole thing just started blending together into a giant mad skillz expo of beauty.

If I had the ability to bite this guys style I would.
