You know how we've been sprucing things up around here? Well, here's the what-for! I'll have pictures of the store-in-progress soon. The swanky Boutiki promo art is by Rex Libris creator James Turner.

On Friday, December 5, SLG Publishing will host a grand opening party for the Boutiki, an art gallery and pop culture boutique. Located at SLG's offices at 577 South Market St. in San Jose, California, the Boutiki will display art by comics artists and sell graphic novels, books, toys and art prints. All of SLG's comics, graphic novels and toys will be available at the Boutiki, where SLG will also host signings and gallery show opening parties.

The Boutiki's December 5 grand opening will feature a gallery show with fine art by SLG comic artists, including Evan Dorkin, J.R. Goldberg, James Turner, Camilla d'Errico, Lesley Reppetaux, S. Eddy Bellows and Evan Waldinger. Limited-edition prints of some of the pieces will also be available to purchase. There will also be a special signing by S. Eddy Bellows to mark the release of his new graphic novel Lulu and Mitzy, live music and refreshments.

The party starts at 7 p.m., but anyone wanting to check out the Boutiki can stop by throughout the day to browse and shop at the tiki-themed store. The Boutiki will be open for business on weekdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Established in 1986, SLG Publishing is a San Jose, California publisher of comic books and graphic novels. It has published works by such notable cartoonists as Jhonen Vasquez, Evan Dorkin, and Andi Watson. More information can be found about the company at its website, www.slgcomic.com.
