It's one of those typically beautiful Bay Area days that I start get really sick of about this time of year, but the monotony has been broken at least by a bit of an impromptu SLG barbecue! (Well, impromptu as in yesterday just before leaving, Dan told us all to bring something and he'd bring the grilling stuff. I brought brownies. Ayup.) Here are some pics of us having a good ol' time.
Dan did the grilling. Just before I took this picture:
Me: "I don't know if you guys have heard, but Dan is the toast of the blogosphere."
Everyone: "Really? What happened?"
Dan (shaking his head in that self-deprecating way he does): "Take the picture and shut up."
He is, though. Dan's interview with Neil Kleid has been the subject of some Internet discussions. Let's have fun with links!
Heidi at The Beat calls Dan "the smartest guy in the room" and labels the interview "MUST READING."
Dirk Deppey at Journalista! uses a quote from the interview as the epigraph for his latest entry.
Elin Winkler of Radio Comix proclaims on her LiveJournal that Dan "speaks the truth."
Dave Roman gets some responses after he links to the interview at his LiveJournal, among them Rikki Simons' declaration: "This interview needs to be burned into the brains of every publisher in comics."
Kevin at Beaucoup Kevin uses Dan's interview as a somewhat weird segue into "But what do you think about me?!" And why not? That's what blogs are for, right?
All right. More pictures after the cut!

I hate to have him leave, but I love to watch him go. ;)

Is it just common sense made to seem brilliant because it comes from a crazy hermit, or is it brilliance that we should be patient for?
